Description
Intricately patterned mokume-gane band with vibrant 18K yellow gold contrasted against 14K white gold alloyed with palladium (making it hypoallergenic!) and sterling silver. This ring features the artist’s proprietary acid etching technique adding an additional layer of textural intrigue. Handcrafted by world renowned artist James Binnion in his Bellingham, WA-based studio.
Loosely translated to “wood grain metal” in Japanese, Mokume Gane is an ancient method originally introduced in 17th century Japan and was originally used to adorn samurai swords. A pioneer in the world of metalsmithing, Jim has dedicated his career to this process since the early 1980s. An engineer by education and an artist in spirit, he uses traditional techniques with innovative twist to craft wearable art of exceptional beauty.
