Anya is a longtime Ann Arbor local, but comes to Abra following a few years balancing wine bottles and nurturing grapes in the Southwestern US. Her designs betray not only the warmth of the desert, but a deep love for antique jewels, from 9th century Byzantine, to industrial Art Deco, to ‘70s turquoise – admitted reflections of the jewelry pieces she grew up admiring (sometimes borrowing) from her mother and grandmother. Her work seems to capture human sentiments in stone and metal – from the memories that define us to the relationships that inspire us. Anya lives on the North side of Ann Arbor, surrounded by plants and soft, round animals.
